The Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) is collecting municipal income tax for the City of Solon.

The City of Solon chose RITA for its ability to offer residents and businesses free on-line filing; free e-payment capabilities and to maximize the City’s tax collection efforts.

City of Solon residents received a 2014 individual post card filing reminder at the end of January 2015. Business accounts received 2015 Withholding forms and a 2014 Net Profit post card filing reminder at the end of January 2015.

After January 1, 2015, all City of Solon tax payments and tax forms, for current and prior tax years, are to be sent to RITA. For those choosing to utilize mail, the remittance address for RITA’s secured lock box center is:

The City of Solon has a 2% city income tax. All persons over 18 years of age earning income in the City of Solon, all business entities doing business in the City, and all residents over 18 years of age having taxable income are subject to the tax.

Solon residents are granted 100% credit, up to 2%, for municipal tax withheld or paid to another municipality on that particular income. Residents owing additional taxes must make quarterly estimated payments. All residents over 18 years of age must file an annual return whether tax is owed or not.
