Firefighter/Paramedic Examination

The City of Solon will be establishing a list of candidates for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic for the Solon Fire-Rescue Department. Testing for this position will include a written examination given by Clancy & Associates on Tuesday, February 14, 2022 at the Solon Community Center at 6:00 p.m. A passing score of 70% on the written examination must be achieved to move on through the hiring process. Only the first 125 applications with payment are being accepted.
All applicants must attain the age of twenty-one (21) on or before the date of the examination and are required to be a State of Ohio certified paramedic on the date of hire. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, in good mental and physical health, have achieved a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and have a valid driver’s license.
The starting salary for a new hire with an Ohio Firefighter 2 Certification and an Ohio Paramedic Certification is $78,211.74. City benefits include Health Care (employee participation), prescription, dental, and vision. In addition, benefits include membership in the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, vacation, sick leave accruals, and select paid holidays.
All applicants will be required to provide, by date of hire, a valid certificate of completion of the Firefighter’s Physical Agility Test administered by Cuyahoga Community College.

Click on “Apply Online” or visit the Human Resources webpage for more information. There is a $20 non-refundable fee to be paid to take the examination. Applications and fees must be completed and submitted by February 3, 2023. Applications and payment are to be completed on the City of Solon website. No applications will be mailed to interested applicants.
