K-9

Patrolman Joe Randazzo and his partner "Mack" started patrolling the streets of Solon in May 2020. Mack is considered a dual-purpose police dog, trained in both drug detection and general patrol work. Mack can find illegal drugs, track down at-large suspects, search buildings, and complete a wide variety of other tasks related to Mack's keen sense of smell and strong drive to work.

Mack is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois cross. Mack was born in Hungary and spent time training in Europe, where breeding and training standards are considered top notch.

To assist with Mack's training and care, donations can be made to the Solon Police Department's K-9 fund by issuing a check to the "City of Solon", with a memo stating "747 Police Dog Donation Fund".
