The Fleet Maintenance Division is a part of the Service Department and under the supervision of the Public Works Department. It consists of several mechanics working two shifts and two parts personnel. The day to day operation consists of service and maintenance of more than five hundred vehicles, equipment and small engine machines for our Police, Fire, Solid Waste, Streets, Recreation, Water Reclamation, Engineering, and Building Departments, and the Senior Center.
Our Division uses a newly integrated fleet maintenance software program to track parts inventory, process accounts payable and receivables, departmental expenditures, schedule preventative maintenance on all the vehicles and equipment and report annual costs. The Fleet Maintenance Manager prepares annual vehicle/equipment budgets and researches new vehicle/equipment needed for replacement based upon the projected annual capital asset budget approved by Solon City Council.
We acknowledge our employees for their professionalism and dedication to successfully operate and provide crucial services to the City of Solon.
