The state budget bill is currently being deliberated in the Ohio Senate. The Senate Finance Committee introduced an amended substitute budget bill yesterday that included some education funding changes but did not address what we need in terms of TPP funding for our school district.
The Solon Schools have $8.3 million in annual TPP funding at stake. If the phase out continues unchecked as current law mandates, the schools will lose a cumulative total of more than $80 million by the end of the phase out.
At this time, we need residents’ help to make contact with the members of the Senate to support that testimony. Direct contact from citizens is a critical element of achieving change in the budget bill.
Ready-to-mail postcards to our own Senator Matt Dolan and Gov. John Kasich are available here at City Hall, at the Solon Chamber of Commerce and at the Solon Board of Education. A sample letter and call script with contacts for Ohio’s senators is posted on the Solon Schools home page.
The time you take to make contact with legislators and the Governor now is an important investment for our community. Thank you for your support.
